Tuesday Coffee Journal

Since I work at a coffee shop, my weekends are during the week (Monday and Tuesday) and I found myself spending too much time in my neighborhood. To break that monotony I decided to visit at least one new-to-me coffee shop every Tuesday! This is a collection of those coffee shop visits.

OLD FRIENDS

My first stop for “Try A New Cafe Tuesdays”, and it did not disappoint! A cozy little shop that, despite the hard materials and modernist accents, felt warm and delightful to hang out in. They also roast on site, which is rad as hell. And they have soft serve!! Got a cortado that was so yummy that I forgot to take a picture of it. Gonna have to come back and try some of their soft-serve. Afterwards I went down the street and grabbed breakfast at Tabor Bread which was, naturally, incredible.

BETTER DAYS

3551 SE Division St
Portland OR, 97202

I'm not traditionally a cortado person, but Better Days turned me into one! This shop is so bright and airy, the music was on point, and the mochi donut (that I ate before I took this picture, sorry) was truly delicious. A really calming way to start my day. Took a stroll down Division St., where I checked out Little T American Baker for the first time! One of the other goals of this project is getting out and checking out non-coffee shops in different neighborhoods, so that was a treat.

LA LUCHA

1416 SE Stark St

So La Lucha was actually supposed to last week's TANCT stop, but they weren't open. So I was excited to finally get a chance to try this spot out. They're a Latin coffee popup inside Enso winery, and this cortado was smoooooooth. It paired *perfectly* with the the banana chocolate muffin I had alongside it (an underrated muffin flavor, imo). Being inside a winery mean the seating was relaxed and comfortable, as I enjoyed my drink lounging on a couch. I of course HAD to have a breakfast burrito from Meat Cheese Bread afterwards! Made me miss XOXO Fest, though.

NO PREFERENCE

Oh, look. A coffee shop that isn't in SE Portland! Super fun best friends basement vibe along side the main cafe that was a perfect place to unplug and read for a bit. The cortado? Fruity, funky, fun. The Cold Brew Jell-O shot??? Genius. Delicious. The Future. The muffin? I ended up taking it to-go and ate it at my apartment later. The owner of No Pref is a real sweetheart, and the staff there are no different! They were so stoked to answer my questions about their coffee. The meal after this? An italian cold cut sub from Sammich a couple blocks down.
